Hand Crafted Nesting & Hiding Boxes
Our boxes were designed to work for our own rabbits on the farm after years of fixing cheaply made stapled together boxes that fall apart every time you try to pick them up. We find that most of our rabbits prefer to be on top of their nesting or hiding box so we built each box with a generously sized loafing platform on top. This also becomes extremely important for does to have a place to rest by themselves as their kits begin to get around. Please confirm the height of your cage or enclosure to ensure that there is enough space for your rabbit to use the platform. Custom sizes can be made to order quickly.
All nesting boxes have a permanent 1/4" hardware cloth floor that allows baby bunny urine to escape as well as air flow during warm or hot weather. Every box also comes with a drop-in 1/4" untreated floor that should be used during cool or cold weather to prevent drafts through the nest and it helps conserve heat. The removable floor should be cleaned weekly to prevent a wet nest and poor air quality in the box. Additional drop-in floors can be purchased at the rate of S- $3.00, M- $4.50, L- $6.00, XL- $7.50. Hiding boxes don't have any type of floor or bottom but one of your choice can be added for an extra charge.
Each box is hand measured, cut and sanded, therefore all measurements are approximate and may be up to 1/4" larger or smaller than the listed dimensions. If you need exact measurements of a box beforehand we are happy to measure it for you. All screw holes are pre-drilled to prevent cracks. Please note that while we do our best to avoid major flaws in the lumber you may see knots and rough areas associated with natural wood products. All wood is new pine, kiln dried and untreated with the exception of the platform top board on the Large size nesting box which is an untreated piece of wood siding. While untreated wood may not hold up as well to weather or urine it is safe and non toxic for your rabbit.
